The Soft & Gentle Super Shot was introduced to the competition with a bang, as Sky Sports set up their very own netball court at Sky Studios and invited famous faces from across the network to come and have a go, under the expert guidance of London Mavericks’ Emily Andrew, Emma Thacker and Kira Rothwell. See how they got on here.
In round 10, a host of famous faces descended on the Copper Box to enjoy an epic match that turned out to be a pre-cursor to the Grand Final as London Pulse took on Loughborough Lightning. Mary Earps MBE and Ebony-Rainford Brent MBE were among those in the crowd, and the two legendary sportswomen even tried their hand at the Soft & Gentle Super Shot on court at half time. To the delight of the 3,000+ crowd, both scored!
Netball also featured heavily on The One Show in June as former England player turned commentator Ama Agbeze, Nottingham Forest Netball Head Coach Chelsea Pitman, and Pulse star Liv Tchine put presenters Lauren Laverne and Alex Jones and other stars from across the BBC through their paces in a Super Shot challenge, with broadcasters Gabby Logan, Vernon Kay and actor Mark Strong excelling but newsreader Maryam Moshiri outdoing them all!
The Grand Final saw the season finish on the biggest stage of them all, and as well as the epic on-court action, there was plenty to celebrate beyond the court too. The fan zone welcomed 6,000 people to enjoy special guest Q and A’s, a live DJ, NSL player appearances, innovative partner activations, and plenty of opportunities to give netball (and the Soft & Gentle Super Shot!) a try.
Also at the Grand Final, Sophie Tea hand delivered her specially designed Gilbert match ball on to court before the game, reminding us of the power that the League has to drive the intersect between sport, art, fashion, and much more.
