Celebrating the centenary
The entire Netball Family has been getting involved in our centenary celebrations, take a look at a snapshot of how the year of celebration events have started to unfold across the country
“ In a Berkshire Netball Youth Camp, we discussed the centenary with our 11-14-year-olds and talked about what it meant to us as a Netball Family. We also created some bunting to celebrate :-)
“ In Manchester, we had a bibs-in-the-air mash-up tournament with team names linked to the centenary theme.
“ At our Sussex Bee Netball session, we spoke about our netball history and how it has shaped women’s lives throughout the ages. We added tasks such as ‘how do you think the game was played when your nan was at school?’
“ In Portland we had promoted the previous week that it would be the 100-year anniversary at our next session and we would have coffee and cake. Some ladies showed us pictures from their early netball days.
“ In Towcester in Northants I shared information about #EN100 celebrations with the league and Netball Now session and asked ladies to be part of the birthday celebrations by sharing messages, and letting others know their own experiences of why they play netball.
“ In Ashby, we ran our usual session which fell on the 100-year anniversary and the ladies made a short video.

“ In Stafford at our Walking Netball group, we celebrated EN’s birthday by all wearing red and white, and with bunting and flags while each participant received a rose.
“ At Tadworth we had a celebration at our Walking Netball session.
“ In Cornwall we used a classroom as our base for the day. The warm-up/icebreaker saw participants pairing up and actively collecting letters from other pairs before working with their partners to decipher the anagram, which read “100 years England Netball”.
