Working as One – beyond the court

We at England Netball are increasingly working as one in an attempt to create consistently extraordinary experiences for the Netball Family. It’s a complex area, so we thought it worth giving you some insight into the role of England Netball with our Regions and Counties. Next time out, we’ll talk to some of the people who make it all happen on the court, looking at regional and county competitions, with a particular focus on the National Clubs competition, the finals of which take place at the end of April.

England Netball’s purpose and how it is to be administered is set out in its Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association which are adopted by its members. The Board represents the interests of the membership but is supported by a number of committees and advisory or management groups. The Working As One approach helps us, as England Netball and our member organisations, build relationships to align support for clubs, leagues and members.

Members are connected to a club or team in a local league that will not only be a member of England Netball as the governing body, but also to a County and Region (Region & County Netball Associations) who provide local competition and support to clubs and leagues.

Since 2022 we have been working hard with the Regional Chairs Forum, agreeing a set of behaviours we hold each other to account on and looking at how we can improve and refine our communication, as well as exploring ways of working to align ourselves to a single purpose and culture, working as a collective team with aligned local plans.

In addition to the Regional Chairs Forum, there are a number of specialist national networks, where England Netball is developing support and relationships with regional and local volunteers. These include: Competitions Leads, NETBALLHer Champions, Governance Leads, Safeguarding Officers, County and Regional Officiating Leads and many more.

Working together

Clubs, leagues, counties and regions are welcome to use our We Are One logos – we have a suite of assets for clubs and registered leagues to use to promote their connection to England Netball through a We Are One badge.

In addition, if you are interested in finding out more about volunteering within your Region or County Association, have a look at the England Netball regional contact list for more information. You will also be able to find out when your AGMs take place, at which these roles are decided.

If there’s a volunteer in your Netball Family that you want to recognise for the time and effort they put in to make netball happen on and beyond the court, nominations are now open for the ONE Awards 2024! Make sure to get involved.
