Oldham, Downs and Blackpool hit the heights
Following 18 action-packed rounds, Oldham Netball Club won Premier League 1 (making it three wins in four years after Academy took the title last season), The Downs Netball Club Premier League 2 and Blackpool Netball Club Premier League 3.
Over 600 athletes took to courts up and down the country to represent their teams with the three Player of the Season winners chosen based on each league’s Player of the Match awards.
At the end of each game, both teams picked a Player of the Match from the opposition team. The winning team’s Player of the Match was awarded three points and the losing team’s player two with these scores tallied up across the season to determine the winners.
After picking up the honour at the end of the 2021-22 season, Academy’s Darcy Griffin won the Premier League 1 accolade again, having had a standout season, picking up 10 Player of the Match Awards.
In Premier League 2, Hannah Francis-Smithson took top honours. Starring for Tameside in their campaign, she scooped nine Player of the Match prizes. Meanwhile, Sussex Thunder’s Marsland won 11 awards during the season – the most of any player across all three divisions.
Weston Park Blades, who finished third in Premier League 1, was voted Club of the Season – taking the title from last year’s winners Norfolk United. The award shines a spotlight on the club that goes above and beyond off the court – from creating a brilliant gameday experience for visiting teams to consistently showing great sportsmanship.
